I had extreme fatigue, muscle aches, very low libido, discomfort during intercourse, urinating on myself, pretty bad mood swings, especially right before my period and right after. I do feel like myself again. I wake up pretty bright-eyed and have pretty sustained energy throughout the day. I ran for the first time in a month and it was AWESOME. I only ran a mile but felt like I could go another two or three. My libido is back in check, no painful intercourse. A couple of things happened that I am not sure if they are coincidence or the pellets, but I normally have rosacea pretty bad, especially when I exercise. My complexion is almost 100 percent normal now. Also had a pain in my ear for years, saw ENT and dentist, no one could explain. the day after the pellets, the pain was gone.
October 21, 2009 - 1:20pmI had not done any other form of HRT previously. I actually found out about Sottopelle first from the receptionist at my ob/gyn's office. She had seen a doctor on Oprah or another talk show. Then I actually received an email from a physician that I had seen at a prior visit announcing a seminar on it. I went to the seminar and just was floored with what I learned about how hormones affect our entire system.
While I have only been on the pellets for roughly 10 days, I feel soooo much better, just unbelievable. Hope this helps! Have a great day!

I am researching the Sotopelle due to basically the same symptoms you had...muscle aches, fatigue, bad mood swings, low sex drive, urinary and some fecal incontinence, cramping, before during and after my period, painful intercourse and I also have rosacea. My GYN says all is fine. I am also usually cold and at 46 am starting to have mt periods every three weeks rather than 4, so the mood swings are more often. I am wondering how you are doing currently? I think almost everything is hormone related and went on birth control pills about two years ago, but my hands and feet swelled ????

Anon,
Thank you so much for returning and telling us more of your experience. We all want to feel the way you describe, yet it is so different for every one of us. I would love it if you would also come back in a month or two and let us know how it's going!!!

I have not had a hysterectomy but I am thinking about getting the sottopelle implant for my hormone imbalance which is causing severe migraines. I am currently getting the depo provero shot for birth control but it has made me gain 10 pounds. So my question is what do I do for birth control? Can someone please help me?

I am considering having the pellet put in in two weeks but am uncertain now hearing so many negative results. This is all new to me. I'm 48 and have not had a period in a year. I have had some depression, difficulty sleeping , decreased interest in sex and night sweats.Oh the joys of getting old!

48??? Sister, you are not old! Life is just beginning. I am 42 and had the same complaints, but along with mine I had mood swings, unexplained muscle ache and extreme fatigue. Doctors just looked at me like I was nuts. My testosterone level was next to nothing. Had the pellet placed a week ago and am loving it! Feel like I'm 20 again. My sex drive was next to nothing too. Today I am anxiously awaiting for my husband to get home so I can attack him! :-)

This has been a very interesting read!! I found this site while doing a search on SottoPelle after reading a advertisment that came in my monthly Health News. It appears that a Dr in my area has just been trained in it and while reading his column, got my interest up.
I am 46 and have been living through H*LL for the past 12-15 years. I've been taking low dose Premarin for the past 3-5 years and have had good success with it for the most part. Last year we (me & family Dr) tried to wean off of it......went to every other day dose, which was fine until I missed a day here and there. Now we are trying every third day - ain't working all so good!
I use to had terrible hot flashes, night sweats, irritable wasn't the word!! My family was always walking around on eggshells. Irregular period, which was extremely unusual for me, headaches, weight gain, acne and beard hairs (that mind you were darker and thicker than my husbands!!), and no interest what so ever in sex. Several OB/GYN told me nothing was wrong, FSH & other hormone levels were normal and that I was just under too much stress. After about 10 years of thinking it was all in my head as some Drs suggested, I told my family Dr my symptons and he suggested I was almost through perimenopause and put me on HRT. I haven't had a period since Jan of '08.....nor have my hubby and I had sex - which is fine by me, but not him. LOL
September 22, 2009 - 12:03pmI'm wondering if I should look into this Bio therapy or just stick with my current HRT.

Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer!
Thanks for your question. So many of us struggle with exactly how -- and if -- we should use HRT. It seems like you have been relatively successful with the Premarin, so it's understandable why you are perhaps reluctant to try something different. But it sounds like you still have some complaints, including a lack of libido. It might make sense to look into other options. Can you visit the doctor in your area who has been trained in this method and learn more about it?

Hello, I stumbled here when I was doing more research on Sotto Pelle, so thought I'd add my experience along with a few others... I started Sotto Pelle about a year ago after getting rave reviews from an aquaintance of mine. The first time I got the insertions I noticed very few changes. It did clear up my fuzzy brain (I was forgetting what I was doing going from room to room sometimes and it drove me crazy), but my sex drive didn't return - which I had been told would come back very strongly. My energy level was always pretty high, so I didn't notice much of a change there. My skin looked a bit better I thought... a bit more "plumped up". I am 58. I got a second insertion 4 months later and still didn't experience the renewed sex drive, to the dismay of my husband. I slept well and my skin still looked good and my fuzzy head was still better, but it wasn't enough considering the cost - in my humble opinion. I decided to try it ONE MORE TIME (the third insertion) two months ago and WOW is all I can say. The sex drive kicked back in BIG TIME and my husband is as thrilled as I am. It also made my breasts bigger and more full - an added bonus I didn't expect (also made them MUCH more sensitive). I haven't felt like this in almost 10 years and I REALLY like it. Since my husband and I have only been married 8 years, he's NEVER seen me like this. It took the doctor three different amounts/insertions of the hormones to get it just right for me. I was told that it sometimes it takes awhile to get the body to adjust to them. If one hasn't had enough testostrone in years (mine was VERY low when I first went in), the body is going to aborb it until it's "full". The first couple of applications were my body adjusting. The third time I hit that "sweet spot" I guess you'd call it. So, if you've tried it and it just didn't seem to do too much, it might take a time or two to get it right. It's relatively expensive (basically, $100 per month where I live in Georgia), but for now is worth it for me. I feel like I'm myself again, whereas before I just felt like I was on a downhill slide to old age. Yeah, I'm still aging, but it's like I've been given my energy and feminity back. I feel like a woman again! Hope this helps...
