I am 38-year-old woman, and last October of 2008, I lost all usage of my bladder. I have seen seven doctors and no one can figure out what happened. I have a sp catheter and I attempt self cathing but it isnt an opition. I am unable to go swiming, take a bath or even enjoy our hot tub. My bladder goes into constant spasms and there isnt anything I can do to stop them. I even went and let the doctor put in a trial stimulator to see if we could shock the bladder back to working. It did not work, so I have asked my doctor to remove my bladder so that I can restore my life back to normal. He says I just need to change my life and I will regret this choice 15 years down the line. I tried to explain to him that at 38 being active is what is important to me and I have thought long and hard about what I am asking. My life needs to come back to what it was, if my bladder isnt going to work, why not let me get my life back two what it was a year ago........ My husband even left thru this because he couldn't handle not being able to do all the stuff we have enjoyed.

Hi Shannon - No problem, I understand. Here's how to send me a direct message.
Go to this link:
https://www.empowher.com/condition/kidneys-urinary-system
In about the middle of the page, on the left side, you should see my picture and a box that says "Message Me". That will enable you to send me a private email.
Please take your time in writing this. I know it's very important to you and we want to help. I am leaving for the day soon, but will be back tomorrow.
Take care, Pat

Hi Shannon - Yes, we can contact a doctor for information on your behalf, but first I need some clarification on what you're asking. Are you tying to decide whether to have your bladder removed, or have you made up your mind to do that and need support for your decision? Do you have a specific diagnosis from your physician on what has caused you to lose the ability to urinate? The more information we have on what you know about what caused this condition, and what you've tried and have found doesn't work, the more we can work to get you some answers. Can we try starting with this information? We really do want to help you, but I need a bit more help from you in order to do that. I don't want you to feel alone, you're not.

December 7, 2009 - 5:48pmYes, I seem to be having the domino effect of things but over all I am trying to figure out what I need to do next. I haven't found anyone with my age that is dealing with this. I do not know if you have access to Doctors, if so maybe I can get in contact with them. I feel very alone right now and as the winter comes it seems to be getting worse. I so appreciate that you wrote back to me.
Thank you for your time
Shannon

Hello Nannon71 - It sounds like you've been going through some very difficult situations. Health concerns, multiple doctors, husband leaving. Those are a lot of stressful situations, and you seem very worried and concerned. What I can't tell from your comments is if you just wanted to share with us, or if you have specific questions. If there's something you'd like us to research for you, just let us know, and we'd be happy to help.
December 4, 2009 - 2:23pmTake good care,
