When my pulmonary doctor's nurse called to remind me of my appointment, I asked
her to make copies of my tests. I only expected to get all the new tests from the last few weeks. Upon getting them home, and reading them, I discovered they were
for the past two years. To make a long story shorter-I was shocked to find out The
problem with my liver-nuecrosis cells-dead tissue cells had been spilling out into my
body for over two years. At the same time , normal x-rays showed the lesions in my
When I was told I askef to have the lung nodules taken out. The doctor said she wanted to wait and see what developed . Thank goodness I got a refural to a new
doctor that had taken over the pratice. I also found out that my heart problems
were worse than I expected-mitral & aortic valve problems-severe! Now I have a
new Heart Doctor that wants to do a complete work up of my heart. Now that I am
aware of all this, I will get things going! Thank God for my woman -lung Doctor who
believes in giving copies of tests and procedures to the patient. I strongly advise any and all of you to get copies for yourself. I am happy to tell you that all doctors

H guys - Yes, if you click on the member name (in orange) it will take you to the member profile, and on the left side you will see the member's photo and under that it says "Send Me A Message." Just click there to access the site's private email system. What's discussed there remains there and does not show up on the site for others to see. You will get notices of new messages in the email address you used to register for the site, and when you click on those you will be taken into private mail system on the site.
March 24, 2010 - 8:01amCrowsister - I didn't think you had disparaged the site at all and you're correct, most people coming in do mention USA places. I grew up in three countries and tend to automatically view things from a global lens, but realize that's not the norm. People here in the U.S. are surprised when I tell them that some of the best information and support I get for my personal medical condition comes from Canada and Australia. I'm truly grateful for everything that's shared by my fellow world citizens. Best, Pat

Thank you Pat - I did not mean to disparage the site, I was only referring to the contacts etc given, as I [so far] see that they are mainly USA places - it does not matter where we are, we can add to each other's lives, and help with a word sometimes -

For anyone reading this thread: Often, you don't mention what country you are in. While EmpowHer is based in the U.S. and (for now!) the moderators/guides all work in the U.S., we would be glad to try to research something specific in another country if that would help you. Often the writer doesn't give us an indication that they live in another country, so we aren't as helpful as we'd like to be.
Crowsister, depending on where you live In Australia, there IS something called the Victorian Health Records Act of 2002 that gives you access to your medical records. Here's a summary of what you can receive, and from whom:

That affects all your health information held by private-sector doctors and organizations after July 1, 2002.

Thank you Diane - I live in the capital city of Queensland, Brisbane. Qld is the top right of the map of Oz - big state. Both of the references you gave refer to other states - Qld, as usual, doing things differently. I will do a little "rabbit holing" online for the info myself.
