Robyn McKay describes how moms can cultivate a heart-based relationship with their children.

Robyn McKay:
The first thing that moms can do to develop a heart-based relationship with their children is decide to do it. Practicing mindfulness, paying attention on purpose, and really deciding to live from your heart, paying attention to your emotions is a great start for developing that kind of relationship with your children.

Paying attention to strengths, abilities, and talents is another avenue to really cultivating love in your family and doing simple things like sitting down to eat together, of course that’s an important thing.

Also allowing children to have their own space in the home and being interested and curious about their activities without being overbearing or trying to sort of hone in on their activities, so having a good boundary around your relationship with your children is important.

And finally, the last thing I think moms can do to develop a heart-based relationship with their children is to cultivate their own creativity or their own interests and really provide a strong role model for their children on how well-being can really support creativity in their lives.
