Teenage Children: Do Parents Normal Feel Like They Lose Control?

Robyn McKay shares if it is normal for parents to feel as if they no longer have control to guide their teenage children.

Robyn McKay:
It’s totally normal for parents of teenagers to feel like they have lost the ability to guide their children. That’s why it’s important for their children to have mentors. Other adults in their lives who say exactly the same things that their parents would, but they are hip and cool and trendy, and for some reason that message comes through to their kids.

So, in some ways it really does take a village to raise a child and to help them graduate from high school and to find their career paths and their life paths. Developing a stronger sense of community with strong adult leaders in your children’s life is a really important piece of nurturing your children, particularly in the teenage years.
