Dr. Emdur is a board certified Internist/Pulmonologist (American Board Of Internal Medicine) and recognized by his peers as a Diplomate in the American College of Chest Physicians since 1996. He did his medicine and pulmonary training at the Cleveland Clinic (1979-1984) and has practiced both hospital based and office based pulmonary medicine in San Diego since 1984. He holds a PhD in microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh (1975) an MBA from California State University (1998) and is board certified as a Diplomate and Advanced Fellow in anti-aging medicine by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. He also is a clinical faculty member at Western University of Health Science in California where he teaches medical students.
A major part of Dr. Emdur’s practice since 1984 has been the care of patients in the intensive care (ICU) setting. As he has grown older, he has become interested in preventing his patients and himself from needing those services. The big question is what can we all do now to live a longer, fuller life free of disabling diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, cancer, hypertension, heart disease or any disease process that can cause us to become disabled and infirm as we age.
From his experience and training, Dr. Emdur has embraced a program of healthy aging and preventive medicine that employs best medical practice standards for blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight control along with the use of exercise, diet, balance of cortisol, insulin, sex hormones and neurotransmitters to achieve his goal of optimizing his patients vision, mobility and independence as they age.
