Dr. Emdur describes the relationship between healthy aging and sex.

Dr. Emdur:
Well, if you are not aging healthy, the problem is you are going to lose your libido. If you lose your libido you lose your interest in sex and, you know, it may be not the best thing for a happy marriage and low libido has several causes. It could be due to hypothyroidism or subclinical hypothyroidism. It could be related to low testosterone level, which, you know, women make testosterone just as men, and also low, low estrogen levels.

So if you are experiencing those symptoms you have to look at your symphony of sex hormones and make sure that they are optimum so you can feel well – both from a, you know, sexual energy standpoint, but from a general energy standpoint and a general sense of well being. So you definitely want to get your sex hormones tested and make sure that they are balanced.
