Dr. Gonzalez explains if gastric bypass surgery is a painful procedure.

Dr. Gonzalez:
The gastric bypass surgery itself has changed through the years. We used to do it through a long incision in the abdomen, and now we do it through five small incisions, so the amount of pain that the patient has is much less. There will be some pain, probably in the first 24-48 hours, and they are treated accordingly, but compared to what we used to do, you know, 10 years ago, it’s much less.
