Spring Fever

Your body wants to move when the weather gets warmer. You want fresh air, exercise, and yes, you want to fall in love. For those of us with lovers already, or for those of us not playing the mating game right about now, falling in love with yourself in spring is a great idea.

Start by walking and observing the world around you. Take time to realize that things are changing; the leaves, the feel of the air, the plants, the flowers are beginning to bud and change; the color is coming back into the landscape, the birds are beginning to sing.

It sounds like a cliche from a Disney movie but it's true. Walking around my neighborhood is loud early in the morning now, as the birds begin to search for seeds and berries they hope will begin to ripen on the vines that are finally emerging from all the snow and ice.

Loving nature is a wonderful way to begin to reconnect with yourself; it is so calming and good; so peaceful and grounding, that the stressors and difficulties of life can begin to recede and our arms can open up once more to the simple, natural beauty of life.

Our muscles want to work but the warmer air also relaxes them, bringing us back in touch with our breath, our hearts, ourselves.
