Ever need a cigarette after a long day at work? Has that Nicotine fix become your crutch for any stressful situation that you come upon? You’re not alone.

Nicotine also has a strong effect on the limbic cortex, which controls emotion in the brain. Studies have shown that Nicotine can help suppress negative emotions, such as anger. This could be one reason why it is so addictive.

This means that people with an angry disposition could be more susceptible to becoming addicted to Nicotine.

If you find that you use Nicotine to calm yourself down, sometimes anger management is recommended to fight the cravings and the addiction. Anger management will help the brain deal with stress naturally, without cigarettes.

We value and respect the experiences of all of our HERWriters, but everyone is different. Many of our writers are speaking from personal experience, and what's worked for them may not work for you. Their articles are not a substitute for medical advice although we hope you can gain knowledge from their insight.
