Dr. Matava:

Well, there’s no hard science behind that question. Obviously, you’d want to avoid putting your knee in any position where you are putting direct pressure on the surgical wound, especially until it heals, or that involves pushing the knee into a position of flexion beyond which it can comfortably go. As a rule, most knee surgeons like to have a full range of motion in the knee by six weeks after surgery.
