Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHer.
You're right, symptoms of pregnancy can mimic those signaling a period coming. The surest way to know is to take a pregnancy test. Many of them will give accurate results up to 5 days before you expect your period. Those results are pretty accurate, so if it's negative, it's negative (and vice versa). The alternative is wait until next week and see if you get your period, then if you end up being late take a pregnancy test, or go to the doctor for one.
Try and not stress. Stress can do a number on your health and your period. Your doctor can help you figure out what birth control is right for you so you don't have to go through this uncertainty again. If you're going to have sex, empowher yourself, and protect yourself from unwanted STDs and pregnancy.
