I also know how anxiety about what you may have endured in labor and delivery (and afterward) can get to you. Here is an article I found about your concern. As suspected, it can be caused at least in part by anesthetic, but please read the whole article for the full picture so you'll be more empow(H)ered this time when it comes time for that little one to come out: Causes of Acute Urinary Retention in Women
Perhaps you could mention it to the person who administers your anesthesia this time and they can advise you if they think a different type of medication would have a better effect on you.
