Thank you for your question and for finding EmpowHER. How great you are asking these questions before engaging in more sexual activity. Yes it is possible he could have HPV. The virus is transmitted in genital contact, so when you perform oral, have sex (vaginal or anal), all those things can transmit a STD/STI. In males, the signal usually is genital warts--if he has them, he likely has HPV. Girls can be tested, but there currently isn't a test for boys. The surest way to protect against transmitting or receiving HPV is to use a condom every time you are sexually active with a boy. Hope that helps relieve some confusion.
