Missed birth control pills, had unprotected sex. Help!

I've been a day behind on my pills for about a week. Usually, I'll end up taking 2 in the same day. But I forgot for this past week. I have been taking one everyday but just behind by one. I had unprotected sex yesterday (Friday) and forgot to take the pill that night. This morning I took it, I took Thursdays pill because I was still behind from the week before. So in my pack I have Friday and Saturdays pill left in there. I'm really worried that I could get pregnant. What should I do?? I planned on taking Fridays pill tonight, then Saturdays pill on Sunday morning and the Sunday pill that night. Meaning I would be caught up. But could I get pregnant? Is there a high chance?? My situation is confusing. I hope you can understand. Thanks so much.

Hi, I missed the last 4 pills (April 4 to 7). I started bleeding on April 8 & still have until now. By the way, I'm a newbie to this pill thing & it's just my second pack. I'm worried when my bleeding will stop, as I usually have my period for 3 to 4 days only before I started the pills, last month, after finishing the first pack, I bled for only 2.5 days. Now, its been 5 days, is this still a withdrawal bleeding or is it a real period?

By the way, me & my bf had unprotected sex on April 3 & 7, and had not resume on my pills yet. Any possibility of ovulation & pregnancy? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Anon,

Thanks for posting your question. Once you miss a pill, the effectiveness of your contraceptives is decreased and you should double up the next day taking that days along with the day before. If you miss more than one which is your case, do not triple up, just skip the one extra day that you missed and use protection such as a condom for the next two weeks.

Please make sure you have your pills on you at all times and set an alarm on your cell phone or something that will remind you to take your pills at the same time every day.

Best of luck,

Rosa
