I can understand where you are coming from. The word "independence" can be taken several ways. The point we are making is that to have a man is great, but he does not define who we are. I am very supportive to my husband and he to me but we are both unique individuals. Our lives are enhanced by each other but we are also complete unto ourselves. We also spend a huge amount of time together because we enjoy each other's company.
I was married from 19 to 23 and then single from 23 to 43 when I met my husband so I am very familiar with single life. I think that when we fully embrace ourselves, we are more attractive to others. It's also helpful to make ourselves available by being out and active. I met my husband on a tennis court.
