Hi, I'm taking Cilest BC. I took a pill at 7pm on Saturday and I missed the one on Sunday. I took one as normal again on 7pm on Monday and took it properly since. Had sex after 5 days using withdrawal method. Some spotting appeared today, is there a big chance of pregnancy? Thank you.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for your question.Since you missed only one birth control pill and have continue to take your daily pill as directed, I do think you are protected against pregnancy.

In the future, If you forget to take ONE pill, or start your new pack one day late, you should take the pill you missed as soon as possible, even if this means taking two pills at the same time. Then continue taking the rest of the pack as normal.

Are you near the seven day break when you do not take a pill? Or are you currently on the seven day break? That would explain the spotting.

Thank you very much for your reply, i missed the pill on the 8th day of the pack, spotting appeared a week after but it was very minor and dissapeared almost straight away. I still have 5 days until my 7 day break, so hoping for a period then. It was the only time i had an intercourse this month too as my partner was away for most of it.
