Q:

Birth control pill effectiveness?

I've been on Loestrin for 2 months now.. I had the Nexplanon before then and started the pill before I had the implant removed. The first month, I had a pretty heavy period. Now I'm on the 3rd day of inactive pills and haven't had a period yet. My fiancé and I use condoms when having sex, and I also take ovulation tests to try to avoid it just in case the pill does fail on me.. No LH surge at all this month. We have only avoided using condoms fooling around, but no more than 1 minute of penetrarion. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests and all tests came out negative. I have signs of my period, cramps, emotional but no bleeding. Also, I only have 4 inactive pills in my pack, not the usual 7. I take it at 9:30pm every day and have not missed or taken any pills late. Spoke with my doctor and all she said was that everyone's body reacts differently. Is there any chance something could be wrong or I could be pregnant?

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

It sounds like you are taken the neccesary precaution to prevent pregnancy and you have two negative test results. When transitioning from one birth control to another, sometime it can take 3/4 months for a woman's body to regulate.

Be well,
