I have tried everything since having children to have comfortable sex... I had c-sections, so I never knew my vagina would tighten so much. I'm not completely without moisture, but it certainly doesn't last long.
June 18, 2011 - 12:56pmEvery product that's intended for a personal lube has either given me a yeast or a bladder infection without fail :(
I have used A&D ointment the past 3 times I have had sex with my husband, and no tearing, or pain...
My Dr had this to say:
A&d would not be reccomended if I needed to use condoms. Since I am in a monogamous relationship, and am not at pregnancy risk, this is not an issue. She said to make sure to pee after sex to make sure to flush bacteria away from the urethra, but otherwise it is safe for use. She said every woman's vaginal flora is different, so it could be less effective for some women.
I'll reply to this post if I start to have any negative results. It's also not as "slimy" as other lubes, so sex is more enjoyable. Good luck :)

Thank you for this helpful comment!
It is important for women to know that using A&D ointment should only be used after speaking with their doctor, for many reasons:
June 19, 2011 - 2:22pm1. It should not be used in conjunction with barrier-type birth control methods, as you mentioned (condoms, diaphragms, etc), as the ingredients can cause the materials in these birth control devices to deteriorate.
2. It is important to find the cause to your symptoms, and not mask them with over-the-counter ointments. If you have an infection, sexually transmitted disease, lack of lubrication...there are more effective remedies.
