Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern.
Do not take another dose of an emergency contraceptive.
Until you have vaginal bleeding and are sexually active, your boyfriend must use a condom.
An emergency contraceptive is most effective in preventing pregnancy when taken within 72 hours or three days following unprotected intercourse. It prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. It should never be taken more than once in a period of one month. Taking it more often decreases its effectiveness.
If you do not have vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, take a home pregnancy test. Contact your gynecologist or primary care physician. It is very important that you and your boyfriend start using some type of birth control and not depend on an emergency contraceptive. As the name implies it is intended to be used in an emergency situation, particularly contraceptive failure, which means the condom broke.
