Hi my friend was asking me a question

She told me that she got the Depo-shot on October 12 2015. . She had gotten her period about a week before that her doctor told her she didn't need to be on her period to get it, today is October 30 and she has unprotected sex but she said the guy did not ejaculate inside of her she is freaking out and idk what to tell her. Should she be worried about pregnacy? Is there any chance

Guide

Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
First of all, she should be aware that 1 out of 100 women become pregnant within the first year of taking the shot correctly. This is a very small percentage.
The shot begins to work 24 hours after injection if injected within the first 5 days of your period. Since she got the shot after her period, the shot would not become effective for 7 days.
When she had sex on the 30th, it was well past the 7 day mark. So she was completely protected by that time. Also the fact that he did not ejaculate, dramatically decreases the chances of pregnancy.
She should have nothing to worry about.
If she is still worried, she can use condoms in the future. But under NO conditions should not take emergency contraception while on the shot.
