Dear Anon,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community and sharing your question about Chlamydia. If your partner has been sexually active in the past, you can still get it because it often is dormant and he or she might not even know that they have it.

You can get Chlamydia from unprotected anal sex and vaginal sex.

Because the cervix (opening to the uterus) of teenage girls and young women is not fully matured and is probably more susceptible to infection, they are at particularly high risk for infection if sexually active.

It is the most common STD in America and if you have any concerns, you need to get an STD screening.

Here is a link to the EmpowHER community with everything you need to know about Chlamydia. I hope it helps.

Please keep us updated and let us know if you have any symptoms.
