Q:

Can you get pregnant from touching semen then putting a tampon in?

My boyfriend ejaculated in the toilet while I was on a date with him. He rinsed his hands off then about 10 mins later I touched his hand, forgetting it wasn't clean. I then went home and realised I needed to change my tampon. I washed my hands with shampoo (no soap) then put the tampon in.
Could I get pregnant from this?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to us with your question.

No. There was no risk of becoming pregnant. By the time you got home and changed the tampon, any remaining semen was dry and any sperm was dead.

Sperm can live outside the body for about 20 minutes.

Regards,
Maryann
