Can your own saliva cause an infection?

So I masturbated and used my saliva as a lube. Will this cause any harm to me. Apparently it affects the PH levels and can cause infection?
Thanks in advance

Hi Anon

No, there is no cause for alarm in this case and your saliva won't cause a genital infection. Your levels will be just fine, I don't know where you heard that this could be an issue but you'll be fine. People swap saliva in all sorts of places all the time!

Thank you for this information:) so even though saliva contains lots of bacteria that the vagina isn't used to, it can still cope with it? Can it affect the good bacteria in the vagina that helps keep it clean? Many thanks

No, the saliva isn't going to interfere with anything. Besides, how much could you possibly be using? Either way, there is no issue here.

About a tea spoons worth of saliva maybe? Also what things put the vagina at risk of developing an infection? Thanks again:)

Anything dirty could cause an infection. Saliva isn't "dirty".

Use proper sex toys, they are designed for this activity and keep everything really clean.
