My wife took the second pill 6hrs after taking the first pill. Then we realised it was supposed to be taken after 12hrs apart. So we got another pair of pills and took them at once ( directions on the dosage allowed us to take two pills at once) but still under 24hrs after sex.
Can my wife still get pregnant?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

There was no need to take another dose - most manufacturer's have revisited the 12 hour gap recommendation and stated both pills can taken at once or at anytime in that window.

EC is up to 95% effective when taken within 24 hours. Your wife's risk of pregnancy is very small. Make sure she reads the paperwork that came with her pills. There can be many side effects to EC and she needs to know what to expect.
Best,
Susan
