After I had already finished with my period in the beginnings of the month I ended up having unprotected sex in the middle of the month. A week later after having unprotected sex I got my period again. Why is that? could I be pregnant?

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! Sometimes, irregularities in period can be caused by a variety of things including stress, working out more often, illness and birth control.

If you got your period recently, that should be a sign that you are not pregnant. However, since you had unprotected sex, taking a pregnancy test can help ease any worries.

If you are engaging in unprotected sex and don't want to get pregnant, it is important to use protection and use birth control. That will improve chances of not getting pregnant and ease pregnancy fears if you continue having sex.

I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best,
Erin
