This sounds interesting! I would be interested in learning if there is any association between dry eyes and nutrition/diet.

Also, what is the spectrum of conditions known as "dry eye", as I'm sure there is mild to severe symptoms; some diagnosable or chronic and others perhaps more seasonal or acute?

My mother (now 80) had dry eye. Is this condition connected in any way to macular degeneration?

Hi--I'm asking for a friend of mine who has a mild case of dry eyes but she didn't have the time today to log on and post so I'll do it for her. She wants to get those contacts that you wear only at night that somehow make your eyes not need glasses during the day. But her eye doctor said her eyes are somewhat dry so he's having a hard time getting a proper fit for the contacts. He said it's not bad enough to go on medication but she is frustrated. Could you please ask Dr. Latkany if there are any natural approaches to dealing with dry eyes? For example, if any vitamins, minerals, supplements, and/or change in diet can help? Will drinking more water help? Thanks so much!
