Q:

Hi. I stopped breastfeeding my one year old January. And last month I had my period for 2 weeks. On the 12th of this month I started spotting, till now. Us it that my body is trying to adjust, or should I be worried?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community with your concern about your period.

Indeed, this is something you need to report to your gynecologist.

Up until last month, have your periods been like they were before you got pregnant?

Having a period that lasts for two weeks is abnormal and the prolonged bleeding puts you at risk for iron deficiency anemia.

The second concern is why you are spotting.

Regards,
Maryann
