how do I know when pityriasis rosea is healing?

I was diagnosed with pityriasis rosea almost 6 weeks ago. Apparently it takes 6-8 weeks to disappear, but I keep finding new spots every time I shower, new red spots seem to pop up. The first ones I got seem to keep changing. Does anyone know what these spots are meant to look like before they just disappear?

Please see a skin specialist and get the rigut treatment.
I am in my 3rd week and i went thru the same itch like you just last week. The rash suddenly boom and spread throughout my body even up to my scalp.
I was given a stronger steriod cream, medicated shampoo, stronger antihistamine to bring the inflamed area down.
The mediciation works like magic, the redness are gone in around 4 days and my skin are slowly healing. I am still sprouting new spots at my limbs but i felt very much relieved now.
Please see a doc and seek treatment.

I sincerely think this may be a stress-induced rash. I was going through a very stressful time in our business when mine appeared, and from what i've read here (interviewing for grad schools, etc., it looks like a common reaction to a stressful internal environment. Can anyone else comment on this? I'm going to try the L-Lysine. I'm about 3 weeks in, getting worse before better, and I do see some spots on my face. Herald patch was size of a qtr, now about the size of a silver dollar. Most itchy and rash is worst under my breasts, but rash is all over chest, torso, neck (bad on neck), spreading to back and groin areas. I have 1-3 spots on each arm. Most itch is under breasts, herald patch, and back of neck (but it does help the itch on the back of my neck to put my hair up when @ home).

Thanks for everyone's post. It's really helpful.

I am on several PR forums, and stress is a big thing with a lot of people- new job, death in the family, moving, finals, relationship problems, upcoming wedding, pregnancy, etc. About half of people say they are more stressed than usual. Have you tried PrrEze? That is what worked for me, my PR was gone within a week.

Hi Everyone, I am on my 6th week and finally the rashes are turning brown, peeling and getting better. My Pityriasis journey was that of horror because of the widespread area that covered almost very inch of my torso, it looked more like a Cherry bush rather than Christmas tree distribution. The itch was unbearable, every single rash itch like crazy and I thought I would never recover. I looked like a Monster and was depressed. Went on with daily activities like nothing happened as it didn’t affect my face and limbs (yet) but inside was burning and had to go toilet many times because of the itch.
Then one day, like a miracle, the rash slowly disappeared. It’s really a mysterious disease, comes suddenly and goes suddenly. For those, who thinks that they are never going to survive this, hang in there. The light will come.....

I've woken up with PR today. I assumed the 'Herald Patch' was a reaction to some perfume as it's on my neck but woke up with more spots this morning so it all makes sense now. This is my second time, the last time being 7 years ago now. It's not for everyone but I had a few minutes on a sunbed last time I had PR. The rash looked worse after but I woke up the next day and it had completely disappeared. I had the rash pretty bad last time but I only have a few small spots this time so I'll see how I get on, of it gets any worse I'll be going on the sunbed again!

Hello Everyone,
I was diagnosed with PR about 4 weeks ago. My spots have gone dark and started to dry out and flake, so I think I am on the upswing. It seems impossible that my skin will ever go back to normal but everyone assures me that it will be okay. I had a few questions for anyone who was out there and has gone through this before:
1: Did you get the PR on your face? This has been one of the most horrifying parts of the disease. I'm interviewing for grad school with small PR dots all over my skin.
2: After news spots stopped appearing, how long did it take for the PR to heal? I think I am in the healing stage at the moment and am just wondering how much longer I'm in for.
3: Were there any tips about the healing stage that were essential for a full recovery? Moisturizers, vitamins, tanning? I'd love to hear any and all suggestions.
4: Did anyone else not have a ton of success with Prreze? It definitely cleared up the PR on my forehead, but I had little success anywhere else. I didn't start treating it with Prreze until about two weeks in however...

If you're reading this just at the beginning of PR, I promise you it starts to get better. I'm about halfway there, and at the beginning I would have never imagined that I could look and feel okay again. Hang in there. It will be okay.

I got my herald patch about 2 weeks ago now, and the PR spots have spread just about everywhere but my face. I started a new job this week and I’m looking to see if there is anything out there that will heal the irritation sooner? Or how long it has taken to heal completely for others? Any advice will help :)

I’m dealing with PR for the second time. The First time it was pretty bad and covered me pretty much head to toe including my face. This time it’s only on my torso front and back, a little bit on my arms and just a few spots on my neck. It not bad at all. Before the rash stopped spreading I started using moisturizers immediately because I knew what was happening. Twice each day I apply Aloe gel, Vitamin E oil mixed with neem oil, and Shea butter in that order! I have darker skin so the spots show quite a bit on me but it’s beginning to heal fairly quickly. I expect it to be completely gone in the next week or two. My first time only took about 4-5 weeks to heal and was so widespread but entirely untraceable after healing. I didn’t have any dark spots left over!!

The first time, my face was extremely dry and had a layer of dead skin that wasn’t going to go away by only using a moisturizer and exfoliating so I went to an esthetician for a lactic acid peel which worked wonders for me and got rid of the dead skin. I’m also an esthetician so I have access to professional products such as lactic chemical peels so I’ve been using it all over currently to help my skin shed the dead skin faster. Find an esthetician in your area who can perform a lactic peel for you. Dealing with PR is a pain but this time around I’m not too worried about it because I know it will go I just have to keep being patient(:
