Hi, I have my first day of period last Sept. 18 and I am expecting my period last Oct 16-18 but until now I haven't got my period yet. I have a regular sex life because I am loving with my boyfriend. I am 3 days delayed now but yesterday I felt some lower abdominal cramps but it only lasts for a day. We always have an unprotected sex but we always do withdrawal. Is there any possibility that I could be pregnant or just a delay on my period? Is there any way to prevent myself from being pregnant? Is it too late? Thanks.

Hello Anonymous,

The withdrawal method is not the most effective way to prevent pregnancy.

Using a condom each and every time, and from start to finish is better.

Taking oral contraceptives at the same time every day, having an IUD inserted or getting a Depo-Provera injection every three months will provide protection against pregnancy.

Yes, there is a possibility you could be pregnant. You can wait another four days or take an early response pregnancy tomorrow morning. For the most accurate result, test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom.

Too late to prevent a pregnancy that may have already happened.

Maryann

We had unprotected sex on 03rd Sep 2016 Evening, she had her periods on 7/8th Sep 2016, normally she gets her periods on 28th day after periods start date plus or minus 2 days, now its 10th Oct 2016 and still didn’t start her periods, and we did hcg test twice found it negative, going to test once more tomorrow morning first instance after getting up, its really pulling us down as we are not yet ready for it, she is in her 29th year plus 3 months precisely on 11th October 2016 and am 34 years… we are in long distance relationship so unable to support her at this time and again this triggers much more stress.

My question : Is there any chance she might be pregnant ?? Even remotely ?? What should we do to ascertain the pregnancy ?? And why she is not menstruating yet ?? Does her health is fine ??

Hello Anonymous,

If she had a normal period following unprotected intercourse, and two negative pregnancy test results, she is not pregnant.

Increased and prolonged stress can cause a delay in the start of a period, as well as missed period.

I suggest she schedule an appointment with a gynecologist to determine why her last period starred early and this month's period is late. The menstrual cycle is regulated by a precise balance of hormones. In her case, something is out of sync.

If you are not ready to become a parent, both of you need to use protection during intercourse.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Have you gotten your period yet?

There is always the risk of becoming pregnant when you have unprotected sex five days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. Most women ovulated between day 11 and day 21 of the menstrual cycle.

If you do not get your period within the week, test for pregnancy.

Hello Anonymous,

Eating pineapples, urinating and washing will not kill sperm.

If you had unprotected sex, that is he was not wearing a condom, and you do not use any type of birth control, the sperm entered your vagina. You could have become pregnant.

If your periods are regular, and it doesn't start in the next four days, take a pregnancy test.

Maryann
