This may last a while longer. Acute bronchitis will usually last from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, and there may be a lingering cough afterwards due to airway irritation. Bronchitis is termed chronic when it lasts for three months or longer, and chronic bronchitis can last for years.

Anon,

I had a horrible case of bronchitis that later progressed to where I needed an inhaler to help get the medicine into my lungs. I got better but I think it took about 8 weeks. It's a very good sign that your cough is fading. But it may take a while for the fatigue to lessen. You're probably in a sleep deficit because you lost a lot of sleep while being up in the night coughing, right?

Honor that fatigue and don't try to do too much. Your body is still recovering. You don't want to push it too much or you could relapse.

My guess would be that you will slowly feel better for two or three more weeks since your cough is gone now. But if you are concerned that you are still just not feeling like YOU, please don't hesitate to call your doctor's office and just check in with the doctor or the nurse. Tell them you're still this fatigued, and ask if there's anything you should be worried about.

Does that help?
