ask: I read that lymphedemas treated with ONDAMED machine, along with massages, are an excellent alternative for reducing lymphedmas. Is that right??

I am a former breast cancer patient from Memorial Sloan Kettering, NY, and after seven years of treatment I developed lymphedema in my left arm. I recently had 20 sessions of lymphatic massages and I am doing well, but, I want to be better.

Dear Claryssa

Thanks so much for your question and congratulations on being a breast cancer survivor!

Lymphedema is a swelling of the arm or wrist and is quite common in breast cancer survivors and can be very uncomfortable. Massage, like you are having, is one of the treatments, as well as wrapping, compression and therapeutic exercise.

The manufacturer of Ondamed states that "new possibilities are offered us in biophysics withthe ONDAMED® System, it is one of the most modern biophysical procedures developed, that works with electromagnetic impulses. The regulation is achieved through induction, that is, the impulses initiate autoregulating reactions in the organism, by their penetration.
The goal of the treatment is aimed at the regulating centres of the organism through
impulse frequencies and by activating the self healing energy of the "out of balance"
system to restore it to its' original, healthy, starting point. The properties of the
ONDAMED® impulse system promotes this in directly ideal ways. These are:
increasing circulation
reduction of inflammation
activating immune cells
relaxing cramps
reducing pain
activating the metabolism
stimulating the CNS

The application spectrum is adequate and includes a wide range of indication. Relative are, among others, allergies, chronic ailments, inflammation, functional organ
disturbances, conditions of immunity deficiencies, rheumatism, pain syndrome, and
environment related ailments i.e., electrosmog. There is the additional activating of themetabolism and the reinforcing of defensive systems. Through the use of inductive
treatment the cell units immediately adopt positive changes which is especially important in the treatment of chronic ailments."

Suzanne Somers is a believer in this process but it is not used in mainstream medicine at the moment.

I am unaware of anyone has used this method but I'd love if anyone using this (or used) would let us know if and how it worked for them.

Claryssa, how were you introduced to this? Do you know anyone who has used it or have you read favorable reviews?

Personally, don't know anyone who has received treatment. What I know about the machine is through Suzanne Somers and the people of ONDAMED. I already have the name of a doctor in New York City that uses the machine in her office and she seems to be is very happy with the results. I'll be making an appointment tomorrow for November.

Kudos indeed for having won a fight against breast cancer!

It would be very much appreciated if you keep us posted with what you end up on your appointment since this treatment seems quite new and is considered an alternative for now.

Yes. It is wonderful the combination of massages and Ondamed treatment. I also recommend a brush your body- to drain the lymphatic system everyday. Brushing is a must!

i just had my first ondamed treatment two days ago and i feel better than i have in years. i suffered from sore back, hips and stiffness. after one treatment i feel much looser and i am able to finally function normally. prior to the treatment i was unable to stand for more than a few minutes without resting. it was ridiculous! i still have soreness in my groin area, but it was only one treatment so i have great hope!

i never would have believed it if i didn't try it.

For those who cannt' find an Ondamed machine near your home, there's also another machine that do basically the same. It is call Scio, and it is as wonderful as Ondamed. We don't have Ondamed where I live, but I was able to find a Scio (energy medicne) machine. I love it!
