This can be a sign perimenopause. Women often worry when their periods become heavier or longer because they have heard that menstrual periods become less frequent and lighter during perimenopause. Some periods do, some don't. In any case, if it is showing no signs of slowing or it happens again, I would check in with your doctor about it.
