Q:

Implantation Bleeding or Menstruation?

I’m confused and wonder if you could lend some advice or your own thoughts on the differences that you have experienced on this topic.
I have regular cycles around 27 days (sometimes 26). My menstruation typically starts light and is super heavy the second day (red in color). It typically lasts 4-5 days. On day 12 of my cycle I have a positive OFK and subsequently had intercourse. I either ovulated on day 13 or 14 so today would be around CD 11. Yesterday morning, I started with a very bright colored blood and then experienced nothing until later in the afternoon. Later it was more and I had some cramping. I used a tampon b/c I did not have pads. That night it was only on one side. Two different times I had a drop on my underwear. Overnight it did not fill half the tampon. Today was the same thing. In fact after six hours and then checking the tampon, it was filled about half way, but my guess is that it was not soaked all the way through. The color is not the same as usual, but it seems like I shouldn’t have that much blood b/c what I read says “spotting”. Typically, today I would be really heavy and it is about half that. It is also three or four days prior to my period so I am confused. It feels like a period, but I am unsure because of the bright color and amount. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hello,
I am usually very regular with the type of flow i have. This month i Had a light period-- lasting 4-5 days. Had intercourse may 24(did not ejac inside of me). Started off very crampy with not much blood. The bleeding didn't fill a whole tampon within a couple of hours like usual. The bleeding was red, thin, dripped out when I urinated on day 3, then got lighter day 4-5. Normally I have a 7 day, heavy cycle. The bleeding started a day earlier than it was suppose to. I had sore breasts, decreased appetite, upset stomach, and headaches. All more intense than normal. Sympotoms left with bleeding. Except stomach feels funny yet. It has been ten days since the start of my period (June 11). Does this just sound like an irregular period?

Ok so I have a question and didn't know how to do it other then go under someone esles since I'm new. I had my last period on may 27 2012 and it lasted 6 days for the first 4 or 5 was really heavy like miscarriage (but that's a different story). Well I had sex with my husband on june 4, 8, 9, 15, 19th. We are ttc so no protection. On the 11th of this month at 8pm I started spotting brown/pink mucus/blood(I guess) it lasted around 2to 3 days off and on. I put a pad on and only a few spots ended up on it in a 24 hr period. I just want to know what it could be? Oh and I seen it when I whipped off and on. Please help me figure out what this was. My next period is not due till like the 24 or around there this month.

hi, i'm 21, my last period was on april 10, 2012 that lasted for 5 days. i got delayed for over a month and a sticky blood/discharge came out last may 29, '12. then the next day, i had an unprotected sex with my bf and let him come inside me, thinking that it will help the blood to come out, but it didn't.. the next day, i took a pt and its negative. then the same day, i took 1 nordette pill at 9:35am, then 4 pills at 9:35pm on the same day. after 24 hours, i took another 4 pills at 9:35pm, since then, i'm not sure if i have my period(because it has clots like usual, but the flow is really light.. almost like spotting, but it drips whenever i pee) or its implantation bleeding. i'm scared. how will i prevent pregnancy now?

My boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex for a good 2months now. I was half a month late on my period and noticed spotting (which I thought was my period) but it was light pink and only lasted two days. Since than my stomach has been hurting terrible and I have been puking. I haven't taken a test yet cuz I'm too scared to. Anythoughts?

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. It is common to wait until you miss a period and take a pregnancy test and since you have not really missed a period (rather just an irregular period), I don't think you should concern yourself with pregnancy. If you miss a period, then you should wait at least 7 days, then take a pregnancy test. Your irregularity could certainly be attributed to your stress. I hope this helps.

Missie
