Irregular/missed period.....pregnant?

I have regular cycles 25 -29 days, and I am on my period 5 to 7 days with day 2 to 4 being extremely heavy. So heavy if I don't have to go out I stay home and I'm usually having to change underwear/bedding (sorry tmi but I wanted to paint a clear picture). A few days after unprotected sex in November around the time of suspected ovulation I had cramps, twinges, urge to urinate. 4 days before my cycle was due to start I began spotting (pink/Brown). I spotted until my cycle started on December 4 but it was light. Stayed light the first few days then what I'd consider medium throughout. Oh I skipped an important detail, took a pregnancy test day before I was due it was negative. Anyway I stopped bleeding on the 11th but on the 12th started spotting again. Spotting stopped on the 15th. I was due to start this cycle January 1st. Between now and then I have experienced waves of nausea, very swollen/sore tender breasts at times, painful cramps, fullness in my pelvic region, dizziness. It's now Jan 4th and still no period. Cycle day 32. I have not had intercourse since the time in November 21 & 22. Is it possible that I'm pregnant? Also having an increased amount of vaginal discharge ranges from cloudy but slimy to white and creamy. Due to symptoms I did STD testing about a week and a half after intercourse and it was negative. I'm confused!

Hello August97,

Thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I'd love to give you some information on the subject.

As you are probably aware, spotting and light periods can happen even after conception.  You are on the right track to suspect that you may be pregnant.

The pregnancy test you took may have been negative because you are not pregnant, or it could have been negative because your hCG levels were not high enough to detect yet.  The tests are the most accurate if you take directly after a missed or irregular period.  With this is mind, I suggest that you take another test after this next irregular period you are experiencing has ended, or around the time it would have ended if it was regular.

If this test is still negative then I suggest that you see your doctor to explore the other reasons why your cycle has suddenly changes.  There are many other possible explanations if pregnancy fails to be an option.

I hope this has helped.  Let us know if you have any more questions.
