Q:

Is it abnormal to have your period for more than 2 weeks?

I got my period on Oct. 29, fairly light & no heavy flow at all, so I thought that it would only last for a couple of days. Around November 5th or 6th, my period flow started getting heavier. Today is November 14th, 2010 and I am still on my heavy flow period.
I am ONLY 14 years old and this is the second time this has happened to me. The period before this one lasted around 2 weeks also; light at first, heavy near the end. But I am on my 17th day mark of my period and this is really starting to worry me.

No sex either

Many young teenagers still have irregular periods, so this may be completely normal for you. A typical period lasts anywhere from 4-10 days, but this is a range. If you are experiencing heavy bleeding that lasts longer than 5-7 days, it would be a good idea to call your regular doctor for a check-up, just to make rule out any medical conditions.

Are you able to call your family's doctor? I really would not be worried; it can be normal...just better to make sure everything is fine!
