Hi, my period is 3 days late, I have never had an irregular period before I am usually on time. I have recently suffered from a cold, I had bad cramps before I was due, I am constipated and tired a lot. I took a pregnancy test on Monday in the morning which came back negative. What should I do now? Thanks

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for seeking our help with your concern.

You tested too early, unless you used an early response pregnancy test.

Anonymous, are you sexually active? A pregnancy test detects hCG levels in both blood and urine. This hormone is produced once the fertilized egg has implanted. Levels are detectable in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception, and in blood about 11 days after conception.

Having a cold, as well as high stress levels, can cause a delay in the start of your period.

Try to relax. If you have not had unprotected sex since your last period, your period may start in the next few days.

Regards,
Maryann
