I had sex on my second day of birth control but only took the pill about 12 hours later and my partner ejaculated in me, should I take emergency contraception?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for coming to our community for advice.

No, do not take an emergency contraceptive pill until you speak with your gynecologist.

You should use a backup method of birth control (condoms with spermicide) during the first 7 days of the pill package. Birth control pills will start to protect you from pregnancy after the first week, if you take them correctly.

Follow your doctor's instructions.

Regards,
Maryann
