Missed two pills in my 3rd week of 21 pack bc pills. Did not start new pack!

I am taking norethind-eth estrad (21 day pack, Sunday start). In my 3rd week I missed 2 pills on Friday and Saturday, had unprotected sex, realized I missed the pills early Sunday and immediately took the 2 missed pills. That Saturday into Sunday I spotted but very little and it disappeared. I did not start a new pack that Sunday, I followed my normal procedure with waiting 7 days then started the new pack on Sunday. Within those 7 days, I had unprotected sex once again. It's now been a week into that new pack. I took a home pregnancy test this past Wednesday night (today is Friday- still in week 1 of my next pack) and it was negative. Was the test taken too soon? When should I take the next test and is there a great chance that I am pregnant?

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

When you miss a pill or two, do not take 2 at the same time to catch up.  Simply start up where you left off (one pill a day) as soon as you remember and continue taking the pills as usual.

Also I am not sure why you stopped taking the pills for a week.  Did you finished the pack?  Did you have a period that week?  Were you taking the sugar pills that week?

There is a slight chance of pregnancy because you were not taking birth control while having sex. But you are correct, it would be too soon to know.  For now all you can do is wait until you period comes next month.  If you miss it, then take a pregnancy test.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I am on 21 day pack therefore I do not have sugar pills and I was originally advised to wait 7 days until taking a new pack of pills when I was prescribed this brand, hence the week off.
Well, as you said all I can do is wait- and be healthy! Thank you again. I love this site; this is all so important. Be well, ladies!
