I'm 23 years of age. I've never been in any sexual relationship and no any kind of medicinal stuff. The problem is that I always had irregular and painful periods but, I'm not getting my periods since last more than 70 days. Its too much scary. :( Is it a serious problem? what do i do to get back to normal???

Hello SPHer,
Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us for advice.
I can appreciate your concern. I suggest you schedule an appointment with a gynecologist.
The menstrual cycle is regulated by a balance of hormones. Any imbalance leads to irregularities.
By obtaining a medical history, doing a physical exam and with blood test results, a gynecologist can determine the cause of your irregular menstrual cycle. Sometimes, taking oral contraceptives can get your cycle on a normal pattern.

Hi Maryann,
Thanks so much for ur suggestion. I really wish, my problem gets figured out soon.
Actually, i went through many WomenHealth sites for getting help for this.
Do you really think, this problem can arise due to mental stress?
Coz since last few months, I'm facing problems in my relationship, this remains on my mind throughout the day.
Even when i sleep, my unconscious mind keeps thinking about it. does that really matter?? I'll be really grateful to u if u could help me out. :(
Thanks once again!

Hi SPHer,
I can appreciate the fact that you would like me to give you an answer, but I cannot. As I mentioned in my previous reply, you must be evaluated by a gynecologist.
During periods of high stress, the body produces high levels of cortisol which can lead to irregular menstrual cycles.
But, you still need to see a doctor about this.
