ask: My child has got hoarsness in throat and strains while speaking

My child is two and half years and he is having hoarseness in throat.when he speaks he strains and the vain in the neck becomes very prominent.Showed th doctor and the said need to undergo surgery.I am scared to go for that insted I would like to so for some medition or home remedies so that it can be cure without pain.He has been given a syrup for cough and antiallergic.But there is no significant progress.
