Is Pregnancy a possibility?

Hello!

I've been on birth control for 3 yrs and have been spotting off and on for the past 2 months. I have been contemplating stopping birth control due to random spotting. Wednesday evening, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and no he didn't pull out :(. Today is Saturday and I have missed my pill since Wednesday. I started heavily bleeding on Friday. I'm not sure if this is break through bleeding or a real cycle. My biggest concern is pregnancy. Am I in the clear since I seem to be having a regular cycle?

Guide

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.
Missing birth control pills does increase your chances of pregnancy. However, if you have a full period then pregnancy is not a possibility.
You started bleeding because you stopped taking the pills which tells your body its time to have a period.
I suggest that you wait till your period ends. Then follow the instructions of your particular birth control to know when to start the next pack.
Spotting while taking birth control usually means that the hormonal dosage of the pills are not strong enough for you. You can either stop taking the pills all together and see if that stops the spotting, or switch to a pill with a higher hormonal dosage.
