Q:

Questionable Urethra pain when urinating.

Within the last week I have noticed a pain in my urethra when I urinate. It varies from a strong pain to just a slight tingle in the urethra. Throughout the day I feel the urge to urinate. I recently was tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and they were negative, but I dont have any pain in my abdomen or cloudy urine like a UTI. My question would be can a UTI only effect the urethra? I will be getting my urine tested for a UTI and the before mentioned STD's (just incase anything was missed). In the meantime, I would love an answer to this question because I am highly confused. Thank you!

Hi Darlingtm

It could be a urinary tract infection. Some people have them with no symptoms at all, and symptoms can vary from person to person. If it is early in the infection process your urine can look clear, especially if you tend to drink a lot of fluids. We have a page on UTI symptoms that may help you: https://www.empowher.com/media/reference/symptoms-urinary-tract-infection-uti.

Good luck and than you for writing.
