ask: Should you have your IUD"Mirena" removed if you have crab lice?

My boyfriend recently cheated on me and i found out by contracting pubic lice. I have a doctors appointment monday, and seriously considering getting my mirena removed because of the infestion. Ive already used the crab lice shampoo, I feel a little better, but I'm very concerned.

Public lice (crabs) are contracted sexually and don’t really cause much harm, rather are annoying. You treated yourself correctly by using the shampoo and that’s all you really need to do. You may use it again in a week as a follow up but otherwise you should be fine.

My only other concern was did you have sex with your husband also? You may have transferred it to him also and he would need to be treated as well. If you have any concerns, you should contact your OBGyn.
