Stopping and restarting the pill.

So I've been on ortho tri-cyclen lo now for about 4-5 or so months. I'm on my last pack I have 2 weekes left. Now I probably won't be able to get anymore for maybe 3 months. Is stopping it now and then restarting the same pills in a few months bad? Is there any risks to it? Or is there a time period I should wait before I take them again.

Guide

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

Stopping and starting birth control pills is not unhealthy and there is no special time to restart the same pills later on.  However, you will experience changes in your cycle during the time you stop and restart.  This is due to the adjustments your body has to make, first to the lack of hormones and then again to the reintroduction of hormones to the body.

Your period will most likely be very irregular during this time but it does not mean there is something wrong.  It simply means your hormones are trying to reach a balance.
