Dear Anon

Thank you for your question and welcome! I am so sorry your friend is living with breast cancer but how wonderful it is that she has a friend like you to look out for her.

We cannot tell you what fluid around the heart and lungs means in your friend's particular case but we can say that it does happen at times and when there is a correlation with a primary cancer (breast cancer, in her case) it means the cancer may have spread. This is called secondary cancer.

Has your friend been diagnosed with fluids around her heart and abdomen? Do you know what doctors have told her? Also, do you know what stage cancer she has? (Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4) ?

Please update us when you can as we'd love to help you and your friend more.
