I have a weird blocked feeling in my ear that muffles my hearing and sounds strange when I talk. What could it be and how can I get rid of it?

Guide

Hello HealthyA,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community.

Has this recently developed?

Ear wax buildup could be the simplest cause of this. Gently clear the buildup by using a one part warm water to one part hydrogen peroxide solution inserted into the effected ear, tilting your head in the opposite direction, waiting a few minutes and then allow the solution to drain out by turning your head the other way.

Blocked eustachian tubes is another possibility. Swelling from a cold, allergies or a sinus infection can keep the eustachian tube from opening. This leads to pressure changes and fluid build up in the middle ear.

You may need to consult your primary care physician.

Regards,
Maryann
