Hi Crystal218

Thanks for your post and congratulations on your new baby!

Post partum bleeding can last a long time for some women but five months is excessive.

I'm glad to read that you're going for an ultrasound to view your uterus, there may be material still in your body from your pregnancy. You may have some sort of condition going on in your reproductive organs. Also, are you on any kind of birth control? Certain birth control methods (like Depo Provera, for example) can cause prolonged bleeding.

You should also get your hormones tested (this is done via blood tests) to see if you have a hormonal disorder - not uncommon due to pregnancy.
Also make sure you are taking iron supplements as this bleeding can cause anemia.

Please keep us posted as to how your doctor visit went and we look forward to hearing more from you!
