Hello Prudence,

I want to be sure that I understand your situation. If your period is lasting for one to two months, are you experiencing vaginal bleeding continuously?

If so, I cannot comprehend that any of the physicians or gynecologist that you have seen could not make a diagnosis.

Menorrhagia is the medical term for menstrual periods in which bleeding is abnormally heavy or prolonged.

In some cases, the cause of heavy menstrual bleeding is unknown, That may be your situation.

Common causes include:
An imbalance in estrogen and progesterone levels.
Dysfunction of the ovaries
Uterine fibroids
Uterine polyps
Use of an intrauterine device (IUD)
Inherited bleeding disorders such as von Willebrand's disease
Other medical conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), thyroid problems, endometriosis and liver or kidney disease.

Have you had blood tests to check for thyroid disorders or blood-clotting abnormalities? Have you had an endometrial biopsy or an ultrasound of the uterus, ovaries and pelvis? Have you had a recent Pap test?

Hello Anonymous,

Are you asking why your period lasts for one to two months? Or are you asking why your period only occurs every other month?

Any irregular or abnormal menstrual cycle symptoms need to be evaluated by a gynecologist.
