VIDEO - HERSTORY: Leana Shares When She Decided To Have Gastric Bypass Surgery

Leana introduces herself, describes when she decided to undergo gastric bypass surgery and provides advice for women considering this procedure.

Leana:
My name is Leana and the procedure I had done was gastric bypass. My surgeon was Dr. Dahiya and I have lost now 200 pounds.

I was sitting on the front porch of my apartment complex and I used to sit there with my neighbors all the time and hang out and I just felt really lethargic and like I couldn’t do anything. And I used to have a lot of fun with everybody and I just felt like something was wrong.

I felt that there was something serious that was going to really happen to me, like health-wise, and I had never felt that before. I had always just kind of gone through life, you know, but I just felt something was going to happen to me, like I was feeling really, just not good. It was just not good; I needed to do something.

And I have had friends who have actually come to me with that and I tell them there’s honestly nothing to be scared about. It’s a surgery that is going to save your life and, you know, it has progressed so much in the years that it’s just, why wouldn’t you have it done? It’s a simple surgery I found, at least personally for me, and it’s the best thing I have ever done in my life.
